My Experience

Volunteer with Miss Foundation

I offer peer support with the non profit MissFoundation.org Compassionate Bereavement Care Program. I host and facilitate monthly support groups for bereaved parents, regardless of how recent the death of their child has been.

Started Whatcom Grief Coalition

Each of us has a story to tell. In a supportive place space, a quiet sacredness, we hear our experiences of pain and joy. In time our hope is to fold those experiences, strengthening and integrating them into our lives going forward.

Created Facebook group for Parents

I created and host a Facebook group for parents with loss since 2013, allowing community members to support one another and educate and share local resources for grief.

Certifications

I’ve been certified in ‘Death and Grief Studies’ by the Center for Loss and Life Transition, under Dr. Alan D. Wolfelt. I also have a Certificate of ‘Compassionate Bereavement Care’ granted from the MISS foundation under Elisabeth Kubler-Ross at the Center for Loss and Trauma in 2018.

Lynda Fell, author & producer of “Grief Diaries”

Nancy has been a vital part of my life after the death of my child. She started a grief support group for parents who have lost children when there wasn’t the resource available for her in her loss. She goes above and beyond the typical support group by reaching out to parents who have experienced loss and inviting them to share space on Facebook through a private group and through the support group. Nancy shares thoughts, articles and quotes about grief on this site. She organizes craft nights and communicates about community events that support the grief process. Nancy, herself, is a kind, caring, support fellow bereaved mother who has dedicated her time to support others in their journey. She is always willing to talk or for a cup of coffee privately if someone needs the support. I can’t say how vital this lifeline has been as I continue to walk on my path in the life after loss. To say I recommend Nancy would be an understatement. I am in awe of the beautiful, giving person she is and how she continues to be a light in the darkness of grief for bereaved parents. Thank you Nancy!
I love you Nancy and I am forever grateful for you and your support
